Shoo Fly

More beautiful scenery today as we passed Matanuska Glacier. At one time this glacier filled an entire valley and it is still awesome. We travelled just over two hours to Glennallen and the Tolsona Wilderness Campground. This is one of our favorites as it is heavily wooded with every site backing up to a stream. Lots of birds, fish and trees. The owner told me they have a rare Great Grey Owl couple who live here in the winter. People come from all over the world to see them. I saw a grey jay and he was quite the bandit. We had a campfire with warm apple pie a la mode and the jay swooped in several times and tried to eat the leftovers on the picnic table. Everyone in our group told a story or shared a funny tale and then Jeff led some singing and taught some rounds. This place has more mosquitoes that most and we came prepared. Jeff displays his net hat, electronic swatter, and battey operated repellant. We also sprayed DEET just in case. The hats we are wearing are Brian's from when he camped in Alaska during high school. Thanks Brian!
