Stars and Stripes Forever

Spent Memorial Day weekend traveling north. Jeff and I drove with my sister Carol to Washington, DC where we stayed with Brian. We enjoyed visiting the zoo and the WWII Memorial.

Brian and his cousin Larry dining al fresco.

It's all happening at the zoo....
 WWII Memorial and monuments.

The high point is always walking along the Viet Nam Wall with the names of all who were lost in that conflict. It is such an emotional and special place.

Carol and I continued driving to Cape Cod where we spent the holiday weekend. We went on a whale watch and ate some delicious seafood.

My niece Sharon and great niece Brielle at their Massachusetts home.

Enjoying nature and whales.

Swing Low Sweet Chariot

Jeff and I spent a few days exploring the Myrtle Beach area. We headed north and visited Georgetown which is above Charleston. A cute town with a wooden boardwalk along the harbor with shops and restaurants.

At Myrtle Beach we stayed at a Hampton Inn on the beach and enjoyed walking along the ocean and eating at some good restaurants. One night we had authentic Italian food and another night we pigged out at a seafood buffet with 170 items. I concentrated on the crab legs.

A selfie on the pier.

One day was spent visiting Huntington Beach State Park and Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet. These properties were part of four rice plantations. The park has lovely beaches and nature trails.

This alligator had a horseshoe crab and put on quite a show.

The gardens are beautiful with plantings and sculpture.

We strolled and had a nice lunch there as well as visiting their zoo with indigenous animals.

Snowy egret and gray fox.

They also had a LEGO display with animals made from Legos that were amazing.

Also went into the butterfly house and saw some beautiful creatures.
