North to Alaska - 2008

It's that time of year again. Fresh from our cruise to the Panama Canal in January and our annual trip to Mexico with friends in March (and looking forward to Dallas in April for a wedding) we are almost ready to head for Alaska.

Things are moving along. We have the list of trekkers who have signed up -- 10 to date -- and Judy will start calling them over the next few days. I have put together a bunch of useful info for them, and I will e-mail it out in small bits about once per week. I hope this will help build up their excitement for the trip.

HaRVey the RV has been detailed and serviced. We are taking him out for a shake-down trip to Hunting Island State Park in a couple of weeks. Then back to the shop for a final oil change and service and he's ready to go.

We received our itinerary for the trek. It is similar, but not identical, to last year. A few different campgrounds and slightly different lengths of stays. We received our copy of The Milepost (an inch-thick guide to Alaska, the Alaska Highway and the surrounding areas) as well of the copies for the guests.

We are working on our after-trek schedule. We hope to hit Vancouver and Victoria as well as Seattle and the Pacific Northwest. Then down through California and across the bottom of the country. More to come on that down the road.
