Climb Every Mountain
7:30 am we drive into the park for a view of Denali. It is crystal clear today and not a cloud to be seen. A perfect view of the mountain in all its ice covered glory. We drag out the tripod and have some fun setting the timer and running to be in the photo. Saw a snowshoe hare and no other animals this morning, but the mountain is more than enough. We are so lucky to see all of it as July usually has only one great viewing day on average. Denali is 20,000+ feet high and towers over all the other mountains. It has a north and south peak and is called "The Great One" by the natives. You are able to drive personal cars into the park for about 12 miles and you can view Denali from mile 9 to 11. If you want to go farther into the park you have to take a shuttle or tour bus.
