Sixteen Candles
Look who's all grown up! We're back in Whitehorse and visited the eagle's nest. Behold our baby eaglet is so big and definitely a teenager now. We have three nights here to revisit our favorite places. We drove over to the fish ladder, but the chinook salmon are late arriving and none were in the ladder. I was able to see some salmon pooling at the bottom of the ladder and maybe they will enter tomorrow. Photo #2 is the pooling area adorned with fish art. The bottom photo is part of the largest wooden fish ladder. The salmon enter and swim up through the levels until they cross through a hole in the dam and into Lake Schwatka. From there they go into local streams and creeks and lay their eggs or fertilize them.
