People are Strange

Some of the things you see along the highway are bizarre. (Not the cow) Today we travelled almost 600 miles making it the winner for longest drive of this entire trip. We left Deadwood early and drove through the Black Hills of South Dakota and the Badlands. We passed by Mt. Rushmore and the Crazy Horse Memorial as well as Custer State Park. These are areas we have visited twice before and we love 'em, but not this time. Passed Wall Drug and didn't get to sit on the Jackelope. We were rushing because we had an appointment for some repairs in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and needed to be there early Thursday morning. Finally reached the Iowa border and headed south. We started to see the swollen river and land still covered from the spring flooding. Sections of the Interstates are still closed because of water damage and parts of Interstate 29 are still under water. Some people have not been allowed to return to their homes and businesses. So sad. We got to the Camping World just before 11PM and parked in their lot. That's one way to make sure you're on time in the morning. We put on our jammies and fell sound asleep.
