The first day of summer and this morning we woke to sunshine and mild temperatures and I took a walk and saw some pretty wildflowers. We drove off early and stopped along the way at a provincial park named Swan Lake. We hoped to see trumpeter swans, but instead saw a pristine lake with only a few ducks. There was a newly fallen tree in the stream and a fellow told us that beavers had been gnawing on the tree and it finally fell one night ago. We weren't lucky enough to see the industrious beavers. The duck is a female common goldeneye. A nice diversion and then we continued to Dawson Creek.
