We left Arlington Heights at 8:30 am and drove through Chicago traffic without too much difficulty. I don't want to hear anyone complain about Route 278 near Sun City as they don't remember living near major cities. We entered Gary, Indiana and saw some graceful swans swimming in small ponds. How inviting! Then we drove north along the Lake Michigan shoreline until we reached the small town of Saugatuck, Michigan. This is a cute, artsy place with lots of shopping and places to eat. We walked along the river and Jeff marveled that this is fresh water. They have a beautiful public rest room painted with the Georges Seurat famous painting that is the inspiration for Sunday in the Park with George. Oh that pointalism! We ate outside and enjoyed looking at lovely boats at the yacht club. Continued on to the Grand Rapids area and we are set for the night at a lovely KOA with good electricity to run our A/C and all our other toys.
