Today is Jeff's birthday and we are driving to Anchorage. It's a sunny day and we stopped along the way to look for salmon in a river. The winter was very long this year and it is still unseasonably cold. The salmon are taking their time swimming upstream and so there is nothing to see or catch yet. We did have a nice stroll and Ziggy managed to get wet and muddy.
This morning we stopped at the Idiotarod Center and played with the cute puppies. No we did not take one home with us. We watched their excellent movie and treated ourselves to a cart ride with a team of sled dogs. This is how they train in the summer and it is exciting to whiz around the track. The dogs are so friendly and they just love to run.
At the campground everything is familiar as we are even in the same spaces as last year. We'll be here for four nights so we can really settle in and relax. Our activity tonight is an ice cream social which is perfect for Jeff's birthday. My favorite treat too.
