Baa Baa Black Sheep

It's Friday and we are heading up through Muncho Lake to the Liard Hot Springs. We'll travel 187 miles and along the way are lots of animals and beautiful scenery. There always seem to be snowcapped mountains in the distance and lots of greenery along the road. There are three kinds of trees in this area - lodgepole pine, paper birch and trembling aspen. They grow up quickly after a fire and the three shades of green look great everywhere you look. There are no wildflowers or color yet, but we do see ferns and other things sprouting up.

Right out of the campground there is a coyote crossing the road and later we see caribou and then more of them. We spot a juvenile bear and then near Muncho Lake we start to see Stone Sheep. They are unique to this area and even though it is drizzly today they are out on the road licking the salt that has been used in the winter to melt the ice. There are a few babies and they are adorable. We see a few herd of wood bison which are also unique to this area.
A must stop for us is the cinnamon bun center of the galactic cluster. I mean you can say you're the best in town, but this is really, really good. Actually we were here last year and the buns are good. The place is real cozy and we got a fresh, hot loaf of bread also.

Interesting rock formations are along the road and it is a good trip. Stopping along the lake we can see it still has a thin layer of ice although Ziggy wades right in for a cold drink. Finally we reach our campground and get everyone settled in for the night. Our evening entertainment is a wine and cheese party and good food and talk is always welcome.
