Surfer Girl

Don't be frightened - I am not going to attempt to surf in the 50ish degree water. Being in California and looking at the Pacific brings me back to a time in the early 60's when my hair was long and dyed blonde and I wore those white Wrangler jeans. I remember a guy saying I looked like a surfer girl and that was a huge compliment.

Today was a memorable one as we woke up to more gorgeous weather and our great view of the waves crashing on the shore. Once rush hour had passed we started out to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley. The ride along Malibu Canyon Road was beautiful and I can see why folks love the LA area. We got to the library and found many cars and buses. Turns out the Post Office had reissued the Reagan stamp today and there were ceremonies and all kinds of things going on. We didn't let that phase us and we spent a few hours seeing the museum and also boarding Air Force One. They retired the 707 after Reagan so the actual plane is inside the building in a very nice display area. The entire facility sits on a hilltop with soaring views in every direction.

We left Simi Valley and headed to Santa Monica and the Getty Center. This is the art collection of J. Paul Getty sitting on 750 prime acres. You park in a six floor garage and then take a five minute tram ride up the hill to the museums. There are four main museums arranged by years the art was created. First floor exhibits are drawings, sculptures and manuscripts while the second floors are paintings which are all lit by natural lighting. The whole place is amazing especially the architecture and gardens. There are restaurants, shops and waterfalls and the most amazing plants which smell divine. The whole experience is FREE!

Back at the RV we cooked a true camping meal of hot dogs and beans. After dinner we took Ziggy for a walk and sat and watched the ocean for a while. A little TV finished off the evening.

Air Force One being at the Reagan Library must be new as it was not there when we were there.

Love reading of your adventures.

Also, love your present camp location - can it get better than that?
