A laugh to die for

Ok. I admit it. I am known for my offbeat sense of humor. But the LA Coroner has me beat. The coroner's office actually has a gift shop called - are you ready? - Skeletons in the Closet. Most of the items they sell have the well-known chalk outline. Everything from t-shirts to caps to "body bag" garment bags.

That the store exists at all is a tribute to the coroner's sense of humor. The items actually in (and around) the store take the humor to a whole new level - black humor redefined. Take for instance one of the signs (seen above).

Possible the weirdest thing - lots of people manage to find this place. A father and daughter came in while we were there. They had to replace some items that had been lost, stolen (yes, it is common), or broken. The girl was on a cell phone with mom giving a blow-by-blow description of each item so mom could get just the right one.

I can't imagine what would draw apparently normal people to such an unusual place.
