Sea of Love

Jeff and I left San Diego and drove up "The 5" to Los Angeles. It was sad to leave Marty & Allan as we had so much fun visiting. They were wonderful to Ziggy allowing her full run of the house and yard considering that Marty is not a dog person. They also get the award for best guest room shower.

We had put the RV in for service and picked it up with the brakes all checked out and a few other things fixed. We followed the Pacific north and passed by Camp Pendleton Marine Base and watched the troops doing maneuvers from our car window. We saw the skyscrapers of LA as we zoomed by and then followed the Pacific Coast Highway (California 1) from Santa Monica to Malibu.

Our campground is on the coast in Malibu and sits high on a hill overlooking the ocean. It is really nice and we are very pleased. We are in an oceanfront site and Jeff and I are sitting outside in our comfy chairs with the ocean spread out before us about 100' below so the noise from the road is a slight hum. It is pleasant and breezy and there is a wide dirt path for walking dogs that runs along the top of our hillside. Ziggy and I have already explored the path and found beautiful cactus and other colorful flowers. Two pelicans were drifting by and that completed the picture for me. I just told Jeff that I may not move for four days and he is fine with that. Of course I have a huge list of things to do in the LA area, so who am I kidding?

The photo shows me affixing the California sticker to our RV map. It is astonishing that we have driven the RV across the country and still have so many states to fill in. Tonight we drove up the road a bit and found a perfect restaurant for dinner. It is called the Paradise Cove Beach Cafe. The ambiance was ritzy beachy and they had a five piece jazz combo and terrific food with large portions. We liked it so much we may go back on Thursday to hear more "Jazz in Paradise."
