Climb Every Mountain

Another gorgeous, sunny day! I walked on the beach and saw a flock of parakeets sitting in the palm trees near our pool. Time for lunch and an adventure.

We drove up another curvy, mountain road to the pueblo of Mijas. This has to be the cutest town ever and right out of the ultimate picture postcard book. We parked in their 10 story garage entering on floor one and taking the elevator to 10 to be on the main street. Here we found cafes, shops, fountains and twisty streets.

Near the parking exit was the stand for the local taxis - burros! Oh, yes they will take you in a donkey cart, or better yet you can tour the town on the donkey. No question which appealed to us, so up we went and luckily the guide led me with Jeff following along behind us. There were no stirrups so we just hung on for dear life and enjoyed the ride. Good thing it is a tiny town and the ride lasted about 10 minutes. What fun and what stares we got from the other tourists.

Afterwards we walked around admiring the ceramics and lovely items in the shops. I got a gorgeous red leather jacket.

We rewarded ourselves with ice cream sundaes and they were even better than the gelato cones we have been enjoying. All the while there were magnificent views of the hills and the water and the towns below on the coast. What a special place.

Going home was funny. We got on a different road coming out of town and lickety split went straight down to the highway. Even so we were glad that we had experienced the windy road going up.
