A rainy day in Whistler is not so good. Most everything here revolves around outdoor activities and it is gloomy and drizzly. We decided to explore and got ready to go into the Village. Lots of cars and people, but the clouds are so low we can't see the tops of the chair lifts on the mountains. Only the mountain bikers are getting any exercise today and later it begins a steady downpour which send us back to the RV.
Whistler and Blackcomb mountains are the centerpiece of this resort area and they will host the alpine events for the summer 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Besides the winter sports they have summer glacier skiing and lots of biking stuff. They also have zip lines and hiking and it sounds like fun, but not today. The village is too cutesy with pavers (not cobblestones as advertised) and lots of wannabe beautiful people. Mostly a young, sporty crowd milling around waiting for the rain to stop. It looks like it was planned by one developer and has lots of shops, sports outfitters and places to eat. We did a little shopping and had lunch and that was enough for us.
Mid afternoon I drove back over to the village to get my nails done and a little grocery shopping. Now we are watching My Cousin Vinny on TV. A good way to spend a rainy afternoon.
