He's Ba-a-a-ack

I've been getting grief about my not contributing to the blog very much over the summer, so I will try to catch up. Judy's specialty is the play-by-play. I will try to add some color.

First of all, as we all know gas prices are through the roof. Here is a video that kind of sums up the situation.

All through Alaska, Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest I have noticed what appears to be a serious health issue. It seems that a large number of young women have body parts that are in danger of falling off. They have tried to stop this problem by using a variety of decorative devices to hold themselves together. If not for these devices I believe that there would be a great number of nostrils, eyebrows, tongues and lips lying all over the ground. I am happy that these decorative devices are so readily available.

We are glad to be back in the states where we are paying "only" $4.50/gallon of gas. That's more than a dollar less than we were paying in Canada. And everything else there is expensive as well. Most meals cost at least 30% more than a similar meal in the U.S.

But I have to say that the Canadian people are as nice and friendly as they can be. We could all learn something from the Canadians.

Now, if the Canadians are so nice, why did it take almost 2 hours to cross the border coming back in? Yes, we want to keep terrorists out. Having said that, the check was, at best, cursory. It would not be hard to get across the border. The delay could have been eased if all the available lanes had been open, but only about half were in use.

I really have to believe that this delay was in the same category as taking off your shoes for airport security -- all sizzle and no steak. It gives the appearance that we are doing something when very little is being accomplished. But some people will believe that because they were inconvenienced we will be a little safer in our country. If I wanted to smuggle 4 or 5 terrorists over the border in HaRVey the RV it would have been no problem. Even assuming that 10% of RVs crossing the border are inspected it is a loss ratio for which the terrorists would gladly settle.

More to come...
