Feelin' Groovy (59th Street Bridge Song)

Writing today from Vancouver and we are really back in civilization now. This is a lovely, big city and so far we are enjoying it. We left Whistler which was still gloomy looking and never did see the tops of the mountains. The drive down is less than two hours, but the road was under construction which made the ride bumpy and curvy as they try to refurbish for the 2010 Olympics.

We drove along the water and we were able to see large freighters and lots of marinas with beautiful homes along the coast. Finally got to the city and our campground is just southeast in a nice suburb called Burnaby. It's a pretty park, but the spots are narrow and hard to back in to for a large RV. Each space has hedges on both sides so there is some privacy and a little bit of room for a picnic table and chairs.

We looked over the tour materials and decided to book an all day trip to Victoria tomorrow when it is supposed to be sunny. With that done we set out in the car to find a Sunday afternoon activity. We decided on Granville Island and it was a good choice. It's a pretty little area across the water from downtown. Kind of arty with shops and restaurants and a large public market which reminded me of the Reading Market in Philadelphia. Lots of produce stalls, bakeries and food all along the waterfront with great views. There were street entertainers too and music. Add some sunshine and it made a perfect afternoon.

We had lunch al fresco and walked along the water. The colorful little boat is a water taxi. Tonight we'll relax and get ready for our 8am pickup tomorrow morning.
