Old Cape Cod

Finally arrived in Boquete after a stop at an upscale shopping area in David. The supermarket had a display of Cape Cod potato chips in the window and we drooled. Our favorite chips.

Anyway we drove and drove today along the western coast on a four lane highway currently under construction. We passed field with sugar cane, rice and lots of mango trees. When we stopped for lunch we saw cashew trees. We stopped on the highway for traffic. Turns out the local teachers were protesting because their school building is contaminated. They blocked the road until they came to an agreement with the police and traffic flowed again.

We had lunch at a beach resort in Las Lajas and had time to stroll and collect shells. I had great nachos and love the easy lifestyle sitting outside and relaxing.

At the shopping center in David we went into several stores and saw all the same products we have in the US. Same prices too! Then we headed up into the mountains to Boquete. Passed lots of little shops and housing areas and finally got to the town square. Our hotel, The Oasis, is on a side street. The rooms are just okay, but the gardens are magnificent. Huge Hydrangea and Calla Lillies. Ponds with Koi and water lilies of various colors. We had a tasty dinner of fish and mashed potatoes with a nice salad at the hotel's restaurant. Now we are hanging out in bed and getting up early to visit the Tuesday market.
