It's Tuesday and another picture perfect day. Our adventure today is whale watching out of Provincetown. We set out early to drive the one and two lane roads that take you to the (almost) end of Cape Cod. You finally reach Provincetown which is bustling, colorful and adorable. There are shops, restaurants and tons of tourists all walking in the streets and enjoying the beautiful day. We got there and checked in for our 2 pm trip. Then we wandered around and enjoyed lunch at The Lobster Pot where Jeff had chowda and I had lobster bisque all with a great view of the water. Some more walking around and then we got on board the Dolphin VII for our three hour tour. Unlike Gilligan we were safely returned afterwards with happy smiles. Leaving the dock we saw this replica of the Bounty made for a recent TV movie and a great view of P-town from the water.

On The Good Ship Lollipop

Another great day in Paradise. Perfect weather as we bid adieu to New Hampshire and drove south to Cape Cod. We passed within minutes of my sister's house, west of Boston, and all the great shopping and eating places we have known for many years. We arrived on the Cape around noon and drove directly to our new home in East Falmouth. We are staying in a beautiful RV resort and our site is spacious and spotless. The campground is quite full for a weekday, but this is summer on Cape Cod. After settling in we drove into the town of Falmouth to drop off Jeff's suit for pressing. It is an upscale, chic town with lovely stores and lots of traffic. Afterwards we were directed to The Clam Shack for lunch. We sat at a picnic table overlooking the harbor and looking at this lovely boat. It is named Grumpy and Jeff figured it was between 80 to 100 feet long. After we ate we drove around the waterways to see the back of the boat and it is from North Palm Beach, FL. I "googled" the boat and found the name of the owner. It is amazing what you can learn online. We saw some exquisite homes and nice beaches on our way back home.

We had dinner in and took a nice walk around the campground using our flashlights to find our way. That is part of what we love about camping. Also we have cable TV and good internet here so we are very happy. Tomorrow we have reservations to go whale watching from Provincetown. We'll have to get up early as it is at least two hours of driving plus stops to ooh and aah at the scenery and sand dunes.

Jukebox Music

This song by The Kinks is the title today. We are going back in time. First photo is our campfire last night. Today we headed to Weirs Beach and the best part of the day was finding the  Route 104 Diner. Food and ambience were great including the jukeboxes on the table and retro decor. Even the bathrooms were groovy with old song lyrics stenciled on the walls.

We arrived at Weirs Beach and took a picture of their famous sign. Other than the beach on beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee there is little to do. We walked along the water and the honky tonk shops. After 15 minutes we left. On the way home we stopped at a lawn ornament place and got a neat bird feeder and a butterfly house. They will both look beautiful in our back yard.

Shangri La

Today was perfect for leisure and weather. To avoid the weekend crowds we stayed at our campsite all day. I spent the day reading a Faye Kellerman book while Jeff is rereading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. We sat outside and enjoyed the day and fresh air. After dinner Jeff made a fire and we stared at the flames and looked up at the beautiful stars. The sky was so full of stars and they reached right down to the treetops.

Big Rock Candy Mountain

One more stop at Rocky Gorge and then we arrived at the Lower Falls. This popular place is full of rocks for sunbathing and slides and rapids for the swimmers. Jeff remembered coming here with his summer camp way back in 1958 - boy is he old! We had a picnic lunch at a shaded table and then took our chairs out on the rocks to relax by the water. The fresh air and gentle breezes were delightful as we read and did crosswords and enjoyed a few idle hours.

Later we drove home, made dinner and watched movies all night. A great time!

The Long and Winding Road

A beautiful, sunny day and not too hot seemed perfect to explore the Kancamagus Highway. We decided to do this before the weekend crowds descended on the area and had a terrific day. The road is 34.5 miles from Lincoln to Conway and climbs to 3,000 feet. It is a National Scenic Byway and certainly beautiful. Along the way are hiking trails, scenic viewpoints and swimming holes.

Our first stop was a scenic view looking across to several mountains. Next we went to Sabbaday Falls and took the easy path and steps to the top of the falls. No swimming allowed here.
