We saw these ducks floating in the river and the babies are getting so big.

Lazy Day
A whole day to myself. Jeff is off shooting skeet with a new friend and Ziggy and I are on our own. Mostly we walked and sat in our screen porch sipping tea and solving crossword puzzles. You understand that I do the puzzles and drink the tea and Ziggy encourages me between naps. We also have an outdoor radio/CD player so I am able to play "my" music which is delightful.

Happy Birthday To You

Wow! Today is Jeff's birthday and what a nice place to celebrate. We are "on call" today which means if a guest wants to ride the shuttle or rent a boat, we're the ones to call. Jeff had some gals rent canoes this morning when it was sunny and I went with him just for company. Now it has turned cloudy and getting breezy. So far I haven't had a call for the shuttle so I am waiting patiently with my radio on. I just finished a James Patterson book and have to decide what to read next.
Tonight there is a BBQ for our "fun and games" department. I am bringing a birthday cake for Jeff and hoping that no one wants to ride in the shuttle which will make me miss all the fun. Oh dear, it's 3:00 and I have four riders to go downtown. All is well as I dropped them off and continue on to the BBQ. We all have a good time roasting hot dogs and all the fixings. Jeff blew out all the candles and everyone enjoyed the cake. Our hosts have an adorable Yorkie and we all got to play with him as an added bonus. Jeff will go with me at 9:00 to pick up the four guests who went on a dinner cruise. It will be tough negotiating the thousands of motorcycles in the village, but I can do it!
Froggy Went a Courtin'
Ziggy and I met this little guy this morning on our walk. He was very brave and allowed me to take lots of pictures while he sat and posed. Much larger that our barking frogs in SC and not as noisy.

The Motorcycle Song

I don't want a pickle,
I just want to ride on my motorcycle.
And I don't want a nickel,
I just want to ride on my motorcycle.
And I don't want to die,
I just want to ride on my motorcycle.
Arlo Guthrie
An appropriate song for all the bikes that are in the area. Today the weather was much nicer and the sun shone all day. We drove down near Albany and shopped at Sam's Club. Had lunch at a bona fide diner and it was good. We bought another delicious rotisserie chicken and had it for dinner.
Jeff and I had a good bicycle ride and checked out all the flooded campsites. Our boat area is still under water and the docks have floated downstream a little. We'll have lots to fix once the water recedes. Later we relaxed outside as our SC alligator guards our home away from home.

I Am Your Dentist (Little Shop of Horrors)
We have off today and both had appointments with a dentist. Jeff left South Carolina right after having a cavity filled and not sure if he would need further work. Yesterday my only crown fell out and needed to be put back. So we hung around all morning and then headed over to Warrensburg to a recommended dentist. Good news as the female dentist had a lovely office and was very efficient also. Jeff had an X-ray and was fine and my crown was glued back in quickly. Even better the office staff gave us several good tips for restaurants in the area.
As we drove through this small town we noticed that the motorcyclists were here too. The streets were lined with parked bikes and several tent areas were set up selling clothing and motorcycle stuff like patches and LED lights. We drove north about 9 miles to the tiny town of Chestertown where the office staff said they had the best ice cream parlor. Jeff and I found the place and sat at the counter and ordered hot fudge sundaes. This is living when you eat ice cream in the afternoon. The place was so cute and we had a nice talk with the waitress. Upstairs they had a lovely gift shop so we will return to try the food and do some browsing.
On the way home we stopped for groceries and then settled in for the evening. Right now we are watching the movie Best in Show which is hilarious.

My Monday Fix
Every Monday I look forward to my latest edition of Uncle Jay Explains the News. "Uncle Jay" Gilbert has a great sense of humor, and every Monday he posts a new edition.
While ostensibly aimed at children (and others with immature minds), Uncle Jay has a great take on the news stories of the week.
