Yesterday I noticed a large alligator sitting on a bed of grass. Today she was joined by another large gator and they spent the day resting in the sunshine. The spring is mating season and I believe these two are a couple. We usually only have one adult gator in our lagoon and now he has a mate. The male stayed put all day while the female rested. Later she slithered down to him and whispered in his ear. Then they laid in the water together and in the late afternoon she got back on the grass with her head near his. Oh, true love!
The last photo is one of six babies that have been hanging around for a year or so. This is the second warm season so I think they are two or three years old. The adult gator doesn't bother them and they are content to lounge around the lagoon and often lie on top of each other to stay warm. What a baby face!
