Margaritaville

Woke to a gorgeous, sunny day and drove off to US 1 and Key West. The ride was really beautiful and the highway has the medians painted turquoise to help you get into the mood and kick back. We saw four bald eagles and too many cormorants, kingfishers, pelicans, egrets and ibises to count. Finally we passed most of the keys and over the seven mile bridge nearing Key West. Our campground is just before KW and very nice. We have a site on the water and looking out to the air naval base. Some F-18's were up and fascinating to watch. We settled in and took a ride to Duval Street and the active area of KW. Decided to take the conch train tour and rode all around the island. So pretty and bougainvillea (sp?) everywhere in all the colors of the rainbow. The buildings are interesting and we hope to visit some of them tomorrow. We had dinner at a Brazilian Steakhouse and Jeff loved it while I enjoyed the immense salad bar and side dishes. Walked down Duval Street to soak up the local color and got to Mallory Square just after sunset. Saw some of the street performers and will be back again. Back at the campground we sat outside with Ziggy and enjoyed the night.
