I Love New York

Carol and I enjoyed a summer get away. We met in Princeton and visited the graves of our parents and family in Trenton and rode by our "old" house. Enjoyed dinner and a movie and lots of talking and catching up on news. Next morning we took the train to NYC and I was in seventh heaven as I love the city. We walked and talked and saw amazing modern art at MOMA. We were lucky enough to catch a Matisse exhibit. Dinner at the Stage Deli because they don't have tongue sandwiches and latkes in central PA. Later we scored tickets to see Memphis which won the Tony this year for best musical. It was great with energizing songs and dance numbers. I particularly loved the costumes. A long day and then I drove three hours back to the campground and work.

How hot was it last week?

OK - that wasn't here, but you get the idea.

My Favorite Things

We have made new friends this summer and this is one of our favorite families. Leann, Alicia & Joel are terrific kids and we became close to them during their stay here with their parents. They came over to say goodbye and take pictures so we can all remember each other.

AAAAAAAH!

We worked this morning on a warm humid day. We got off at 3:00 and went home to sit in a/c. After a nap I went outside to make dinner on the grill.

Lo and behold! Moderate temperatures, low humidity, clear sky. It was beautiful!

The past week has been one of record-breaking temperatures and high humidity. The temperature topped 100 degrees several times. It was hard to breathe. Remember - we work outside all day.

On Tuesday I left work a couple of times to walk over to the kids' pool and soak under the spray in the splash park. It was the only way I could keep my body temperature under control. Luckily the owner of the campground is really good about having cold bottled water available. The bike compound and gate shack - the two areas where we spend the most time - both have refrigerators full of bottled water, and we can go into the store to take a bottle out of the sales case at any time.

Back In The Saddle Again

Back at Knoebel's enjoying the day. Here's Jeff after he lost his hat on The Phoenix and both of us catching a ride on the carousel. They have huge ice cream sundaes and I finished mine.

Stop in the Name of Love...

It's Thursday, our day off and we slept until 11 am. Then we went to Knoebel's Amusement Park to ride a roller coaster. Last visit there was on Jeff's birthday and we rode the Twister. Today our mission is to ride the other wooden coaster - Phoenix. It is a fabulous coaster where everyone tells us you float most of the ride. Oh yes, it is a great coaster with up and down bumps that send you right off your seat. Jeff was sitting on his hat and we were screaming and then it was over and we came speeding into the station and right past the stopping zone. It was all so fast that the operator decided to send us right out again. The second ride was just as intense as the first and this time Jeff's hat flew right out from under his tush, never to be seen again. The coaster was originally at a park in San Antonio, TX and moved here in the 1990's.

Later we had ice cream sundaes and listened to some oldies in a live show. Next stop was the carousel where Jeff and I each grabbed four brass rings. Oh the memories.

A great day and tomorrow we are back to work.
