My Old Kentucky Home
We left Georgia this morning and arrived in Kentucky for the night around 5 pm. An interesting day and pretty scenery. We passed through Chattanooga which sits in a bowl surrounded by mountains and covered with smog. Purchased gas and spent $188. to fill half our tank. Started noticing big bugs splatting on the windshield and realized they are cicadas. Must be the seven year cycle. We ended up with two of them in the RV and took a picture. Ziggy was excellent again and Jeff took her photo sitting on her bed and enjoying the ride. At one point Jeff noticed that the Garmin GPS wasn't working and we stopped off to get a new one and have lunch. Later he saw that the battery in the Acura was dead and needed a part to fix it. We stopped at Camping World in Nashville and had quite an adventure. It was about 91 degrees again and we pulled into their lot and it was being repaved. We followed the driveway around to the back and realized that we could not turn around. So poor Jeff had to unhook the car and then it took a long time to charge the battery while we sat and sweltered. Finally Jeff was able to start the car and we turned around, reattached the car and left. After that it was a pleasant ride through Tennessee and into Kentucky. We're staying at a campground just south of Paducah and near the Kentucky Dam on the Tennessee River. Jeff is outside in the heat fixing the car and hopefully that will be it for repairs. Every day is a good adventure.
